Our new greenhouse is growing fresh local food for our restaurant and community.
In the summer of 2018 a long-time dream came true for us here at the Brier Island Lodge. On June 4th 2018 the construction of a durable, long lasting, greenhouse to grow fresh produce on site began. With our hard working crew on task the framed structure was up by June 13th and the plastic cover installed on June 22 and we were in full production of various types of produce that was being served fresh in our restaurant by early July.
Fall harvest time we were blessed with so much bounty we were offering free produce to community members. The greenhouse continued to provide leaf lettuce and other herbs until early November.
We are looking forward to next season and seeing how our greenhouse gardens will grow.
